During my first tour in Vietnam I visited a radar site on a training mission (AR-15s)that was near Monkey Mountain. I don't remember the name of the mountain. Does anyone? This was at a time when the Air Force had the AR 15 (M-16) and had no prior training in it's use or care.I worked out of Saigon.

I was a planecaptain with VMFA-542 in DaNang from March-October 66 then we went to Chu Lai untill April 67. I did not see any actuall combat but I do have the peace of mind knowing thatwhen the call for air support came there was never a moments hesitation to launch the hotpad birds. Operation Georgia (66) was a good example as was the air support SSGT. JIMMY HOWARDS ReCon team got in June 66. You have a great thing going here.

Have just entered your site, it`s great. I`m trying to help my husband find any one from ww2 who served with baker co. 347th Inf,87thdiv,. Most Ive read so far is on Vietnam. I have two Bros who served there. One who passed away in92 from abad heart at the age of 43 and one who is disabled from a bad heart. A Bro inlaw the same way, whom all served the same time. I am trying to get in touch with veterans that may have served with my Father-in-law, John Merrill Burroughs. He was in the Headquarters Battery 206th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion from around December of 1943 until his discharge in December of 1945.
His 80th birthday is coming up in July 2001 and the family would really like to invite any surviving veterans that served with him to come.

Sir, Your web site was beautifully done. I loved the poem " One By One We Are Coming Home". It told just how badly our boys were treated by some of the American people. My brother was one of the boys sent to Vietnam to fight a war he did not understand.But he went , he fought in the jungles and rice paddies and he came home. Some of his friends did not make it home. The poem says it all. It's not to late to say thank you to these men, women and war dogs. They had to leave most of the war dogs over in Nam. The goverment would not bring them home. I would like to believe that they would not have done this to our POW's and MIA's too. Then to not reconize what all the war did to the ones that did make it home is unforgivable of our goverment. Sites like this one do a great service in honoring those heroes that were too-soon forgotten. From a son of a veteran-thank you for working towards a healing process that is so often impeded by those that would just assume to forget that the war occurred.

What I just saw brought back a flood of memories am reading a book called Fortunate Son and it's taken place around the Danang Area so I thought I would go back in time and be there again.Keep up the good work the site should get a Medal. I saw this beatiful programme in the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL.I nearly cried when I saw the sacrifices made by the soldiers and the dogs.i also have a german shepard dog.when i see it i am often reminded of those great dogs.
